Call for Abstracts for GEO 2021 closed on 21 January 2021. We thank all applicants for their abstract submissions. All authors will be notified on the outcome of their abstracts in due course.

Following the rescheduling of GEO and the announcement of our new conference theme: Geosciences in an Era of Transformation: A New Landscape, we’ have seen a positive response from current presenters, as well as growing interest. The GEO programme will consist of content that reflects current developments in the petroleum geoscience industry.

Submittal Instructions

  • The call for abstracts is open both for oral and poster abstracts
  • All abstracts must be submitted online at the AAPG submission site
  • All abstracts must be submitted under a technical theme
  • There is a character limit of 2,500 characters for the text of your submitted abstract
  • The deadline for abstract submissions was 21 January 2021
  • Oral presentations and poster artwork requirements will be communicated to presenters of accepted abstracts

Participation Disclosures

  • All session chairs, speakers and poster presenters must register to attend and present at the conference. Funding is not available for speakers. Only submit an abstract if at least one author is certain to attend the conference
  • Permission from the GEO Secretariat to publish your abstract is implied when you submit it. GEO abstracts will be published on the conference USB which will be distributed onsite as part of delegate packs and also included online on the AAPG Search and Discovery Datapages
  • The GEO Secretariat has ruled that presenters who fail to show up for their scheduled presentations without previously notifying the GEO Secretariat of their cancellation will not be allowed to present at any GEO Secretariat-sponsored technical meeting for three (3) years following the “no-show”
  • English is the official language of the conference
  • Electronic projection will be the only presentation format available. Speakers will be connected to one data projector and have access to one screen and a pointer
  •  All poster presenters will be responsible for printing their posters. Printing specifications will be included in the invitation and also available on the conference website
